1979 Pontiac Firebird Formula

Pontiac Firebird Formula. This is 1 of only 367 1979 Firebird Formulas which came equipped with the W72 400 cubic inch engine and the original Super T-10 4-speed transmission. The W72 was the last of the Pontiac performance engines. Engine code is PWH and the VIN is stamped on the block with the original 6X-4 cylinder heads. This Formula has the desirable WS6 4-wheel disk brake option which includes HD suspension and the N90 15x8 inch snowflake alloy wheels. Rear end is a 3:23:1 ratio and G80 posi axle. I have the original build sheet which shows all options like Air Conditioning, Tinted Glass, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Locks, Formula Steering Wheel with Tilt, Console, Full Gages with Clock, Lamp Group, Sport Mirrors, etc. The color is Mayan Red and the Deluxe Vinyl interior is black. Mileage is 57, 800 on this original, rust free, Texas car.

The W72 engine was factory rated at 220 HP and 320 lb/ft of torque. This engine has an Edelbrock performance package with includes a matched carburetor, aluminum high-rise intake and the 2157 camshaft which advertised an additional 40 hp with the headers and performance exhaust system. I have the original exhaust manifolds, intake manifold with the correct 17059263 800 cfm Quadrajet carburetor. The engine has a fresh ignition tune-up, a new fuel pump and the clutch-pressure plate and TO bearing have been replaced.

This Formula 400 has zero rust, the underside is detailed, the seat covers have been replaced and the headliner looks great. A beautiful car with one repaint that drives great and is very quick.
